Will Heaven Pass Away?

I’m confused by one of the verses referenced in Lesson 7. It’s on Day One, 2nd question with verse reference Mark 13:31, which says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” I thought we lived with God in eternity in heaven. I understand that the earth will pass away one day, but heaven? 

Great question! First, in the context of the question asked in Lesson 7, Matthew 13:31 was given to show the reliable, eternal, validity of God’s Word. What He says He will do, He does. What He says will happen, will happen. 

With regard to heaven passing away, according to Revelation 21, following the final judgment, God will reveal the new heaven and the new earth where He will dwell permanently with His people. This is one of the most beautiful promises for believers and worth reading in its entirety.
