10 Ways to Develop a Strong Group Dynamic in your Small Group.

The Psalms, which are basically the diary of David are another thing altogether. While David pours out his heart with astonishing honesty, every word he writes is directed to, and for, God — the One who created him, knows him, understands, him, loves him, forgives him and has the power to change and SAVE him!

I was led by a dear friend who prompted us to share a one-word prayer as we parted for the summer. What a simple, but effective way to stay connected and remember one another during the summer break. As the lovely face of one I hold dear comes to mind throughout the day, it’s easy to associate the one word she chose, which I recall and lift her up in prayer. So, although we are not physically together for a few months, we can remain close in spirit.

I learned that Jesus, our great High Priest, who is our HOPE

is an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

He has entered the inner sanctuary, behind the veil.

He ALWAYS lives to intercede.

Who is Melchizedek, and where did he come from?” Some in the study thought he was a pre-incarnate appearance of Jesus Himself (Christophany) and some thought he was a real man. We all agreed he was  an enigma! Considering Hebrews Chapter 7 is all about Melchizedek, I decided to dig deeper.

Genesis is a mountain we climb - summiting with breathless expectation to view the vista of creation - then plodding down, knees aching, into the valley of the flood. On repeat we experience the summits and shadows.

“The Bible surpasses all other books as to authority, antiquity, literature, and popularity.” Unlike historical books, the Bible points to our future as well as our beginning. The authors of the Bible were directed by God the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:20-21). Reading the Bible is a form of worship. The Bible is the Word of God!

Life gets busy, and sometimes we fail to fix our thoughts on Jesus. Whenever we take the time to focus on him, the day is better! If you look for Him, you will see that He is always there, waiting for us to look to Him.

Many of us begin the holiday season with the best of intentions to keep Christ as our focus. Somehow, He gradually gets put on the back burner as preparations take precedence, and we become more focused on the task at hand.

“So this is what the sovereign Lord says, ‘See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.’” Isaiah 28:16

The dearest part of the story is God’s response. I can only imagine His face as He tells them the consequences. I bet he glared at the serpent and then smirked as the flying beauty dropped to the ground and slithered away…

I have a lot of questions. And, the process of thinking through possible explanations is actually sort of fun for me — like some people must feel when they solve a puzzle or understand a really difficult math equation. Most of my questions have to do with the Bible…
